One day the weather here in Southern Ontario is like winter, and voila! the next day it is 20 degrees C. Hard to get your head around. But we will take it! The shop is bursting with blooming fabrics and the doors have been open to let a breath of fresh spring air in. New fabrics arrive on schedule fostering new ideas for new projects. Right now I am working on a sample from a new book entitled Cozy Modern Quilts by Kim Schaefer. I've chosen aquas and browns for this one. Stay tuned. Diane is working on another new sample, Hugs and Kisses, and that quilt may have to become a class. We are gearing up for Row by Row - I am in the throws of designing our row, hoping to incorporate some humour into the mix. Our fabrics are in (except for a few stray bolts which should arrive soon we hope) and we will have patterns and kits made up, with some added fun things for purchase, in time for June 21st. Should be fun!
Signing up for a block of the month program is a great way to budget for a beautiful quilt...and...anyone can handle piecing one block at a time. Somehow it breaks things up and you are not overwhelmed. We have a few spots left in the Housewarming BOM. This is an easy to piece quilt with a little applique. Mistletoe Lane has piecing and applique and is also an advent calendar. Pumpkin Patch Lane has piecing and applique as well. All of these BOMs are made with top quality fabrics in beautiful seasonal colours. Call or come in to the shop to register.
It is inevitable...time passes so quickly and I have reached that age that I never imagined myself to be. So to celebrate, the shop is having a fabric sale - all fabric on the bolt is 25% off, minimum .5 metre cut. This sale runs through February 28, 2015. Now is the time to build that quilt you have been thinking about. Come in and see our new arrivals!
Have a very quilty day!
I know the snow is still flying...and the weather channel is still reporting storms here and storms there...but eventually fall will come and if you join the Pumpkin Patch block of the month now, you will have a lovely quilt finished to display in your home. This is a 6 month BOM using Maywood Studio's fabric lines, Chrysanthemum and Classic Dots and Checks. The program runs February through July 2015. Your credit card will be charged the 1st of every month and you can pick up your block anytime after the first of the month. Registration is $34.95 + HST, and the monthly charge is $34.95 + HST. Finishing kit is included. Backing is extra. Call the shop or come in to register. Only 10 spots available.
We have entered a new year and I suppose you may have plans for re-organizing your sewing space, or you may have plans for a new project, or how about some stash busting? Any planned retreats in your future? I have been thinking about this new year and what it will bring into my schedule. Over Christmas we re-organized the store and now it is more spacious and easier to work in. We hope you like our new look. My quilting studio is a disaster...so there is re-organization needed there. My personal stash has been sitting unattended since last June while we were busy planning the store for the September opening. Lonely stash! I think there may be a family wedding so I am planning a beautiful neutral wedding quilt. As a matter of fact, I cut the fabric requirements for this quilt yesterday, and made 2 other kits for the store, as I'm sure others will be looking for a wedding quilt. What are your quilting plans for 2015? Come into the shop soon and be inspired!
Happy Christmas to everyone! We know that you have many choices when it comes to purchasing supplies for your quiltmaking and we thank you for your patronage since our opening in September. We value your friendship, and your business. Jim and I have thoroughly enjoyed bringing the shop into existence and all that is entailed in running a small business. We are going to be closing the shop December 24 through January 1st. We reopen January 2nd. Classes begin January 3rd so please check the website for our newsletter which outlines classes and BOM programs. Be safe this Christmas Season.
How about a group of fat quarters in a cute fabric gift bag? Or some beautifully scented Flatter fabric smoother with a matching bottle of Soak? Would a few charm packs do the trick? How about a gift certificate? There are lots of items in the store that would just fit the bill when it comes to that special quilter in your life. Come to the store and take a look! We are sure you will find something.
